We challenged chefs of three different levels - an amateur, a home cook and a professional chef - to make their versions of French toast. And then we brought in a food scientist to review their work. Which French toast was the best?

    Ok, if you're going to make a savory French toast, say that you're going to make a savory French toast. Generally, especially here in the USA, French Toast is considered part of a breakfast meal compared to pancakes, Waffles, and any other food that goes with maple syrup, chocolate, or honey. Emily's dish is so bizarre that the commentator at the end had to be politically correct. You can tell that she did her best to be politically correct with Emily. Emily needs to go on Food Network's worst cook in America. As for chef #3, No one is going to wait 3 days to eat French toast. So if, you ran out of babka in your restaurant, and we wanted French toast, then we would have to wait three days? Nope! Lorenzo you had the BEST dish A+.

    My 5 year old Grandson makes better French Toast better than your “Level One” Cook! I prefer using Challah Bread sliced thick. I make my Egg Custard with Orange Zest also!

    if you want an easy error free way to make french toast, buy a bread called Texas Toast bread. Put it into a pan, pour the egg mixture over top of all the bread & throw it into the oven to bake it. (I put a second layer of bread meaning it's 2 slices on top of one another)I make it this way all the time,for years, always comes out perfect. Sometimes I'll add brown sugar mixed with melted butter & spread it on the bottom of the pan first. After yrs of trying to make french toast the traditional way I started doing this & every single time it comes out perfect. the only way I'd make it. and yes you get the perfect maillard look to it.
